On October 29 and 30, confectionery exporters visited “Little Tokyo on the Rhine,” the Japanese quarter in Düsseldorf that stretches around Immermannstraße and whose history dates back to the 1950s. The district provided an inspiring environment for the topics on the agenda of our export conference and, at the same time, a charming location that underscored the intercultural exchange in a special way. The conference began at the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry with a workshop on intercultural competence and dealing with business contacts in Japan.
During the conference, we also addressed a number of exciting topics that are of central importance to our international work. These included current trends in the Japanese confectionery market, the new formats of the ISM, legal aspects relating to confectionery, and the question of how consumer behavior will change in the future and how companies can win over the next generation with customer experience. The opportunities offered by artificial intelligence were highlighted, which can be particularly beneficial for small and medium-sized enterprises.
The US market was also back in focus. Despite the new trade policy challenges, there are still attractive opportunities for the German confectionery industry. A US broker explained the various market entry strategies and spoke of the “German Advantage.” Innovative products, strong brands, and “Made in Germany” quality continue to be in high demand. The intensive and informative days were rounded off with a joint Japanese dinner at the QOMO restaurant in the Rhine Tower – high above the rooftops of Düsseldorf and with an impressive view of the city.
Export Conference
We use the Export Conference to address export-related topics. For example, sales channels and innovative ideas in the context of digitalization will be presented. In addition to lectures and workshops on the topic of "export," the focus will also be on exchanging ideas with and among the participants. The event will once again be rounded off with shared meals and an evening activity for the attendees.
