This year’s German Sweets Annual Conference brought together members of the German confectionery and snack industry in Leipzig. The focus was on current developments in the international export business, new market potential, and personal exchange within the industry. The event was characterized by a constructive atmosphere and diverse networking opportunities.
Following the general meeting, Dr. Gunnar Kaßberg (University of Leipzig) opened the export session with a presentation on business opportunities in Vietnam. In addition to market structures and intercultural nuances, he presented support programs for small and medium-sized enterprises as well as collaboration opportunities for market entry.
On the second day of the event, the focus was on other international markets and future-oriented topics. Oliver Platt (Evertzberg Bakery) spoke about responsibility and transparency as success factors for modern food companies. Alice Bulonza (Innova Market Insights) presented the most important global consumer trends—ranging from well-being and “ ” health to the growing influence of artificial intelligence on consumer expectations.
Volker Klima, Agricultural Attaché at the German Embassy in New Delhi, provided an overview of the Indian market. He explained the opportunities for German confectionery manufacturers and highlighted the potential of a future free trade agreement between the EU and India. In addition, Israr Aslam (Fluidworks) highlighted the importance of cultural understanding and emotional consumer engagement for market success in India.
The annual conference was rounded off with a joint evening program featuring an exclusive guided tour of the Leipzig Zoo followed by dinner—an ideal opportunity to strengthen existing contacts and build new networks.
